How to put fractions on the number line?
Placing fractions on a number line is a great way to visualize their values and compare them.

  1. Set up the number line:
Draw a line and mark 0 and 1 at its endpoints.
Divide the space between 0 and 1 into as many equal intervals as there are units in the denominator of the fraction you want to represent. For example, if your fraction has a denominator of 4, divide the line into 4 equal intervals.
  2. Locate the numerator:
Count the number of intervals indicated by the numerator of the fraction. For example, if your fraction is 3/4, count 3 intervals from 0.
  3. Mark the point:
Place a mark on the line at the end of the counted intervals. This represents the location of your fraction.
  4. If the fraction is greater than 1, extend the number line beyond 1 and repeat the process: divide the extended line into the same number of intervals as the denominator and mark the corresponding point based on the numerator.
